Keeping up with politics and government news from Romania
Provided by AGPIn a statement shared on X, Foreign Minister Oana Toiu said, “The public showcase of hostility and humiliation that Minister Ben Gvir directed at protestors participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla is unacceptable.”
She also condemned what she called the “willingly abusive treatment” experienced by activists and demonstrators, many of whom are European nationals, saying such actions “goes against human dignity requirements.”
Toiu urged Israeli authorities to ensure the “immediate and safe release” of those detained, stressing that the process should comply with international standards. She further emphasized the importance of protecting the activists’ access to consular support as well as respecting their “basic human dignity.”
“We hope this incident will be treated with the utmost responsibility and that this sort of humiliation will not be repeated,” she added.
